Storm Storms Scenario for Monday Evening:

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop along a cold front, which will move into South Texas Monday evening.  Storms will form along a Cotulla to Three Rivers to Victoria line by 9pm Monday evening, and will move in a southeast direction reaching the coast around midnight.  Some strong thunderstorms are possible, especially over the Coastal Bend, generally east of Highway 281.  Strong storms are defined as containing frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes, small hail, and gusty winds up to 50 mph.  An isolated severe thunderstorm cannot be ruled out, especially near Victoria where large hail and damaging winds would be the primary threat.  Spotters, please be prepared to submit storm reports for this event.

Rainfall Forecast:

Due to the quick nature of these storms, rainfall amounts will be minimal, ranging from 0.01″ to 0.10″ across the Rio Grande Plains to 0.25 to 0.50″ across the eastern Coastal Bend.

Temperature Change:

Ahead of the front, temperatures will soar into the mid to upper 80′s Monday afternoon. Considerably cooler conditions will prevail in the wake of the front Tuesday, with high temperatures in the upper 60′s to lower 70′s.  Lows Tuesday Night will range from the mid 40′s north to the lower 50′s coast. Small Craft should exercise caution on the gulf waters in the wake of the front.

No Fire Weather Concerns:

Relative Humidity and wind combinations are not expected to reach critical fire weather thresholds in the wake of the front Tuesday.
